SGS

We are excited to announce that La Joya ISD is joining the System of Great Schools (SGS) Network and will participate in the SGS program for the next four years. This commitment is a part of our strategic efforts to elevate excellence for all students across the district.

The System of Great Schools is a program led by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that supports school districts to improve student outcomes by providing support, training, and funding. As part of the SGS work, our district will focus on:

  • Using data to analyze school performance

  • Listening to community members to understand your needs and wants

  • Expanding great school options for families

  • Building effective central office structures to continue this important work

Superintendent Dr. Marcey Sorensen stated, “Participating in the System of Great Schools is another step we are taking to continue the legacy of educational excellence as the right of every student. Through this work, we will align our resources, strategies, and efforts to make sure that student success is at the center of everything we do.”

By joining the growing network of SGS schools across the state, La Joya ISD is demonstrating a commitment to ensuring that every family has access to high-quality, best-fit schools. This fall we will invite community members to share their ideas about how our schools can best meet the needs of our students. Together, we will work to understand and deliver the schools that all La Joya ISD families and students want, need, and deserve.
